This auction is being operated under the umbrella of the Ionia Free Fair, Ionia Michigan and is a non profit, 501c3 organization.
Rules for Participation in the IFF Youth Livestock Auction:
2. All exhibitors must be enrolled and participate in a 4-H club or FFA chapter that is chartered through Ionia County MSUE and/or FFA programs.
3. Eligible youth must be between 7-19 years old as of Jan. 1 of the year in which the auction is conducted. 7 and 8 year old youth will be allowed to sell and be able to exhibit one animal (hog, goat, sheep or market beef)
4. Exhibitors ages 9-19 can sell one specie market unit: consisting of 2 lambs, 2 hogs, 2 goats or a market steer or market heifer.
They are eligible to sell 2 animal species in their last year.
5. If an exhibitor has 2 champions or reserve champions of different species and it is not their last year, they must designate the Wednesday before the sale by noon which champion they will sell. There will be no substitutions of champions in the sale.
6. Each exhibitor is responsible for the care and delivery of their animals(s) after the auction until they are picked up from the fair. The Ionia Free Fair Youth Livestock Auction will arrange trucking.
7. All exhibitors are required to display a sign acknowledging the purchaser of their animal(s) the following day by noon. Signs will be provided to all exhibitors.
8. A percentage of the gross sale proceeds will be deducted from the amount payable to each consignor to pay for the expenses of the sale and other necessary items. Any excess funds will be reinvested back into improving the Livestock Facilities at the Ionia Free Fair.
9. All rules and requirements will be reviewed and revised if necessary on a yearly basis.
